Lee University Track & Field Team's Are Off to Great Start

The Lee University men's and women's track & field teams are off to a great start. Both teams started their indoor seasons on Sunday at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham Alabama.

The Flames Men accumulated seven individual wins; with Josiah Brooks claiming two individual wins in the 60-meter dash and triple jump, Christian Noble earning his two wins in the mile and the 3,000-meter run, Justin Brooks receiving his two wins in the 400-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, and Harold Smith crossed the finish line at 1:54.92 to win the 800-meter run by over two seconds. 

The Lady Flames acquired several individual wins as well as some new school records; Emily Buwalda won the 800 meter and Amy Carpenter set a new school record of 10:18 in the 3k. Jordan Allison and Hannah Buttolph set the Lee record in the high jump by both reaching 1.57 meters. Allison also set a record of the day in the 60-meter hurdles. Avery Truelove and Mikayla Beeler both set Lee records in the jumping events, with Truelove's setting the Lee record for the triple jump at the distance of 10.66 meters and Beeler's setting the Lee record for long jumps at 5.01 meters. Camilla Sims also set a Lee record in the weight throw with a toss of 13.28 meters.

The next competition for the men and women Track & Field Teams is on February 2nd in  Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for the Camel City Invitational.
